From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a colorful mix of personalities, and a gripping narrative including divine entities, demons, and dark forces increasing in influence within the city.
Heads-up: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure are included.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The third episode finished on a huge suspense moment and introduced the premier party of heroes who will split off from the main group to undertake their separate journey, apart from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table includes Teor (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Given an extensive roster, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.
This explains, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Questers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who are drawn to a classically intense fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look unsuited, but the events of episode 3 demonstrate why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
First, the team understands precisely where to go next after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose passing kicked off the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, striking the rogue, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.
The antagonist then paid off his debts and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each character has a specific drive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as the companion and closest confidant, seeks retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the northern area and advises that it is a nasty place.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- However, their status as prominent individuals in the influential clan could enable the party enter places they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his salvation and will now go with him anywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:
- Thimble and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and Wicander defied the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.
This results in them little choice but to journey toward Timmony in quest for Casimir.
